Cattle producers remain committed to sustainability

Consumers have asked for more sustainability from the food supply chain.  Ashley McDonald, the executive director of the National Grazing Lands Coalition, says the cattle industry has delivered — and has a great story to tell. “Being able to just show that pride, it’s not something that we need to shy away from,” she says. “We really need to step up to the plate and be able to talk about it in a very definitive way to show our case.”
She tells Brownfield farmers and ranchers have been committed to sustainable agriculture for generations.  “They have to steward those resources,” she says.  “Without it, they don’t have the land that they utilize and the resources that they utilize to form the industry that we have and produce the food that we all enjoy. They always have.”
She says one of the biggest challenges facing the cattle industry is making sure consumers who are making the buying decisions trust producers.
