As the climate crisis accelerates, Artificial Intelligence poses a growing threat to a livable planet. AlgorithmWatch is seeking a Senior Advocacy Manager to lead impactful advocacy work addressing AI’s expansive environmental footprint.
Reporting to the Head of Policy, you will design and implement strategic advocacy activities that tackle harmful industry practices, lobby policymakers, and mobilize public support for better AI governance. Collaborating with researchers, activists, and decision-makers, you will translate complex environmental and socio-economic insights into compelling advocacy initiatives. You will follow the latest interdisciplinary knowledge for understanding how AI and sustainability relate to political and social issues, coordinate the transfer of research on the topic into practice, and identify actionable ideas for change. Your work will shape narratives, build coalitions, push for policies that challenge AI’s unchecked expansion, and help develop a vision for alternative futures which respect sustainability and justice.
We’re looking for a passionate, strategic communicator with experience in climate justice, environmental and/or technology policy, or corporate accountability with a strong analytical approach to complex, intersectional challenges and excellent research skills.
This is an opportunity to influence global discussions on AI and climate, working alongside a passionate team committed to evidence-based advocacy and systemic change.
