Nominations Open For 2025 Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Awards – 1380 KCIM

Iowa officials are asking Iowans to submit nominations for the 2025 Iowa Farm Environmental Leader Award, which honors farmers and families prioritizing conservation and protecting Iowa’s soil and water resources. Since the award’s creation in 2012, 821 farm families have been recognized. The 2025 recipients will be honored in a ceremony on Aug. 13 at the Iowa State Fair, where state leaders will present each honoree with a sign and certificate. Gov. Kim Reynolds says, “There is no group more wholeheartedly committed to conservation than our farm families, whose way of life depends on leaving the land and water better than they found it. The Farm Environmental Leader Awards are an opportunity to recognize those who have excelled in doing just that, even while they also carry out their responsibility to feed and fuel the world.” Nominations will be accepted through May 5. Forms can be found on the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s (IDALS) website, and a committee of agricultural and conservation representatives will select winners. Links to the nomination forms are included with this story online. The award is presented in partnership with the Governor’s Office, IDALS, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Last year’s winners from the area include: Marty and Lisa Danzer (Carroll County); Joseph and Janice Shirbroun (Carroll County); Tamara Deal (Guthrie County); Mark and Brennan Vogel (Guthrie County); Dennis and Ann Youngquist and Amanda Youngquist (Sac County); and Conner and Ashley Hildreth (Calhoun County).
