{KXLG – Canby, MN} The Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office reported that a vehicle broke through the ice on Del Clark Lake near Canby, Minnesota, on the morning of February 2, 2025. The incident occurred at approximately 8:50 AM. Thankfully, the driver managed to exit the truck safely and returned to his group without sustaining any injuries.
The vehicle is now submerged in approximately 30 feet of water, and efforts are underway to recover it. Preliminary investigations indicate that recent warm weather compromised the ice at the location.
To ensure public safety, the area where the vehicle broke through has been clearly marked with traffic cones. Authorities are reminding everyone that “no ice is ever completely safe” and are urging extreme caution when venturing onto ice-covered lakes.
