Anton/Bauer Wins Top Sustainability Award at NAB for Salt-E Dog – Newsshooter

Anton/Bauer won a Top Sustainability Award at NAB for its for Salt-E Dog, 9kWh sodium-powered battery.
Launched in 2023, the NAB Excellence in Sustainability Awards recognizes individuals, companies, and products/services for outstanding innovations in the media technology sector that promote sustainability and foster economic and social development.
The judges selected Salt-E Dog as the winner in the Sustainable Product or Service category, highlighting Anton/Bauer’s commitment to tackling the pressing issue of carbon emissions associated with traditional fossil fuel or lithium generators. Using sodium chemistry, Salt-E Dog offsets greenhouse gas emissions, allowing cine and broadcast productions to offset 2.6 kg of CO2 and associated NOx per litre of fuel saved, contributing to a greener future. The sodium cell is 100% recyclable and has a much lower GWP (Global Warming Potential) rating than lithium-ion batteries, at only 62.68Kg CO2 eq/ kWh.
Anton/Bauer manufacturers Salt-E Dog at its factory in Cartago, Costa Rica. The factory has earned the “Essential Costa Rica” certification, focusing on excellence, sustainability, social progress, innovation, and Costa Rican participation, ensuring adherence to rigorous standards in resource management, environmental responsibility, and local workforce involvement.
