Miles College has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH).
This new collaboration will see both institutions take a leap towards creating a healthier environment while promoting public health.

JCDH heard a plea for more sustainable initiatives and decided to act on it.
They aim to bring in more resources and expertise, thus partnering with Miles College to create an “unstoppable force.”
“This is not about one community in Jefferson County, this is the whole county. Miles College is going to be right alongside every community member in Jefferson County and helping us address these needs and bringing them valuable resources in where they are needed the most.
This is just the beginning of what is hoped to be a successful plan to tackle environmental changes.
JCDH and Miles College will be seeking ways to engage with the community and teach better practices that will be beneficial in the long run.
“This partnership will also generate job opportunities and environmental fields associated with public health projects and county residents, fostering economic growth and sustainability. We are committed to engaging students, residents and stakeholders in addressing various environmental concerns such as resiliency, flooding, storm water pollution, air quality and green spaces.”
