This comprehensive study aims to enhance mobility and ensure safe, reliable river crossings in the area.
This crucial environmental review, inspired by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), will explore various alternatives for the bridge, which could include rehabilitation, roadway improvements, or maintaining the status quo.
The process is expected to unfold over several years, incorporating extensive public input and detailed analyses of environmental impacts.
The bridge, a historical landmark known for its association with George Washington’s famous river crossing in 1776, faces modern challenges including traffic congestion and safety concerns.
The upcoming study will not only address these issues but also consider the preservation of the surrounding historical and environmental sites.
The commission expects the review to take approximately 30 months, during which community members will have opportunities to voice their concerns and suggestions through various public engagement activities.
