On July 1 the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) will officially launch as a new state cabinet agency dedicated to environmental protection and preservation.
Committed to Science, Service, and Sustainability, SCDES will ensure clean air, land, water, and coastal resources for all South Carolinians.
Interim director Myra Reece emphasized the agency's goal to use science-based methods and sustainable practices for environmental health.
Members of the press are invited to attend the agency's introduction and a brief media availability with Myra Reece on July 1.
