EFC Gases & Advanced Materials has been awarded the 2024 Sustainability Leadership Award from the American Chemistry Council (ACC).
In winning the award, the Massachusetts-based producer of electronic and specialty gases was recognised for its products, technologies, and initiatives that promote sustainability.
News of the award comes just days after EFC joined the Semiconductor Climate Consortium (SCC) as part of its commitment to reduce the ecological impact of semiconductor manufacturing.

EFC received the award in the “Environmental Protection” category for its Neon Gas Recycling System, which addresses sustainability challenges by capturing and recycling pent neon gas that is typically vented.
In turn, this ensures a stable neon supply, reducing carbon dioxide emissions through the offset of neon production, and minimising resource waste. By recycling neon, fabs have the potential to reduce over one million metric tonnes of associated carbon dioxide emissions per facility over the next two decades.

Pavel Perlov, President and CEO of EFC, described the award as an honour for EFC.
He continued, “Our Neon Gas Recycling System is a prime example of our commitment to environmental stewardship and operational efficiency and showcases our dedication to finding solutions that safeguard our planet.”
