Windom police responded to a report of an animal attack Thursday evening.
Thursday evening, officers were dispatched to Windom Area Health, where they spoke with a male who had been walking his pit bull in the Environmental Center near Windom Area High School at around 7:45 p.m. The man stated the dog had been attacked by what appeared to be a larger dog with longer hair. The man also suffered non-incapacitating injuries to his arm while trying to get his dog away from the other animal.
The pit bull was treated for injuries at the Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic.
Officers determined the other animal may have been a coyote, as the attack is in a wooded area bordering a slough that is conducive to wildlife. The animal was not located.
As a precaution, officers were on the paths this morning, as the paths in the Environmental Center are popular with kids walking to and from school.
The Windom Police Department advised the public to use caution when on the trails.
