BCD Travel and Advito earned top honors at the 2024 BTN Sustainability Summits for their innovative sustainability efforts in the travel industry.
BCD Travel and its consulting branch Advito have garnered multiple accolades at the 2024 BTN Sustainability Summit Americas and Europe, showcasing their commitment to sustainability and innovation in the travel sector.
During the BTN Sustainability Summit Americas on May 8 in New York City, BCD Travel was awarded the Achievement in Sustainability – Travel Management Company, and Advito received the Achievement in Advancing Sustainability Data and Reporting award. These honors recognize their exceptional efforts in minimizing the environmental footprint of business travel and improving sustainability reporting practices.
The recognition continued at the BTN Sustainability Summit Europe on May 15 in London, where BCD Travel and Advito once again excelled in their respective categories.

The awards celebrate a variety of recent initiatives by BCD Travel and Advito aimed at assisting clients in creating sustainable travel programs. These initiatives include collaborating with multiple traveler engagement platforms to integrate Advito’s GATE4 data into top online booking tools, developing sustainability assessments for preferred supplier programs, and conducting workshops to help employees evaluate their personal carbon footprints. GATE4, Advito’s ISO-certified carbon emissions calculation methodology, empowers clients to accurately measure and report their carbon emissions.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our achievements in sustainability,” said April Bridgeman, Senior Vice President of BCD, and Managing Director of Advito. “This acknowledgment reinforces our commitment to providing our clients with cutting-edge tools and strategies that promote responsible travel and sustainable business practices.”
Beyond their client-facing accomplishments, BCD Travel and Advito have also made notable progress in their own sustainability initiatives. BCD introduced a comprehensive sustainability framework encompassing beyond carbon, mindful travel, industry advocacy, and high standards, directing their sustainability efforts across all operations. This program aligns with globally recognized frameworks such as the UN Global Compact, Sustainable Development Goals, and ISO 14001/45001. It also includes an annually externally assured sustainability progress report.
BCD has achieved four consecutive EcoVadis Platinum ratings, placing them in the top 1% of suppliers, and has reduced carbon emissions by 72% from their 2016 baseline. Their “Making a Difference” program supports 39 projects in 14 countries, focusing on children’s welfare worldwide.
“Our goal is to lead by example, demonstrating that operational excellence and environmental responsibility go hand in hand, and to inspire others in the industry to pursue their own sustainability goals,” said Baars.
The Business Travel Sustainability Awards, established by the BTN Group, aim to highlight the crucial importance of sustainability in the travel industry and to inspire advancements across all sectors. Entries from companies throughout Europe and the Americas were assessed by an independent panel of judges, which included senior corporate travel buyers, independent travel management consultants, and sustainability and ESG experts.
