{KXLG – Watertown, SD} At today’s Codington County Commissioners meeting, the Codington County Road 20 Reconstruction project is moving forward as bids have been opened for the 2024 construction. Three companies submitted their proposals, each offering unique approaches to enhance the road’s stability and longevity.

The decision to reconstruct County Road 20 stems from its deteriorated condition, particularly in areas with poor soil quality. Hartley says, “There are some really bad spots” on the road.
The goal is to create a durable, reliable roadway that withstands the challenges posed by soft, soggy sections.
County Highway Superintendent Rick Hartley and staff will review the bids and make recommendations based on cost-effectiveness and long-term benefits.
Hartley felt confident it would be ready for recommendation to vote on by next week’s meeting after being asked by Commissioner Myron Johnson.
