DEC Seeks Public Input on Environmental Bond Act Guidelines – FingerLakes1.com

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has released draft guidelines for a grant program to improve food security and reduce harmful greenhouse gases. The program, part of the $4.2 billion Environmental Bond Act of 2022, focuses on disadvantaged communities.
The guidelines propose funding to replace high-emission refrigerants in grocery stores and markets with climate-friendly alternatives. DEC Interim Commissioner Sean Mahar emphasized the importance of public input on these guidelines, which aim to reduce air pollution and address climate change.
Public comments on the draft guidelines are open until July 26, 2024. Feedback can be sent by mail to Jessica Fowler at the DEC Office of Climate Change or by email to [email protected].
