In yet another example of how the environmental movement’s not doing things in the people’s best interests, there’s a movement in California to shut down the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in San Luis Obispo County, California. This is the only open nuclear power plant in California which supplies 9 percent of the state’s electricity.

There’s a Marxist front group called “Friends of the Earth,” who are anything but friends of the earth given their intent and actions that can potentially harm people while having no redeeming value in creating or maintaining a better environment. They are even suing the Department of Energy because of funding to keep the power plant open until 2030 versus 2025.

If anyone’s awake, but not woke, they should be aware California has stated there should be no gas-powered automobiles sold after 2035, and there are several towns that wanted to ban natural gas connections to new construction. But that absurd suggestion seems to be in remission thanks to some court decisions.

California Independent System Organization (CISO) operates most of the power grid and they’ve issued warnings about charging electric vehicles during peak electric use because they don’t have the generating capacity to do so.

Turning off another 9 percent of clean and reliable electrical production only serves to make things worse! But then again, why worry about a lower quality of life. Nuclear power should be the environmental dream as the land footprint used for the amount of energy produced is unsurpassed by any other form of electrical generation. Furthermore, there is an emission rate of zero percent.
So why the anger against nuclear power? It’s all about control of your life through the use of energy. Pure and simple.

There’s a lot of damage done by the environmental movement in the form of lawsuits. It would be good to have a national system in place where losers pay. And when these lawsuits are filed, they should pay the legal expenses of the people being sued. If this form of Tort Reform were to be implemented, this would drastically reduce this abuse and allow all of us to live better and less expensive lives.
