Letter: 'We share the effects of climate change and environmental degradation equally' – Salt Lake Tribune

(Chris Samuels | The Salt Lake Tribune) U.S. Rep. John Curtis talks with Tom Moyer, of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby, while leading climate scientists and constituents on a hike in Rock Canyon in Provo, Monday, Sept. 26, 2022.
I, for one, appreciate the op-ed piece on the conservative point of view on climate change (“I’m a young conservative, and I want my party to lead the fight against climate change”). It is refreshing to hear that climate change is beginning to be recognized as an issue on that side of the fence.
Although some issues and complaints brought up seemed cherry picked and out of context, Benji Backer is so right that our policymakers need to get on board and help solve these problems.
Climate change will not be solved overnight, but we do need to start heading in that direction.
His statement, “We share the effects of climate change and environmental degradation equally,” should end there. Adding “across political parties” has no bearing on the problem, we all are at risk and all voices should be heard. Our future is at stake.
