For 25 years, the most innovative thinkers and leaders around Earth science have gathered to build trust in data and make it accessible to all audiences. These efforts will continue at the 2024 January Meeting of Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP). This virtual meeting from January 23–26, 2024, focuses on the theme of “Grounded in Trust: Data Ethics Empower Collaboration.”
The ESIP January Meeting features plenaries, panels, hands-on demos, coffee break networking, and working sessions to support data uses in Earth sciences. Topics range from harnessing generative AI for air quality information to the best practices for teaching climate change.
ESIP is a non-profit, volunteer community of science, data, and information technology professionals who tackle data issues. ESIP works to improve Earth science data management practices and make data more usable by researchers, policy makers, and the public. ESIP also aims to be inclusive as possible by making it affordable for all to attend, while hosting a completely virtual environment. All sessions will be recorded and shared publicly via the ESIP YouTube after the meeting.
Aside from NCEI, other ESIP partners and members come from across the globe and include organizations such as NOAA, NASA, the U.S. Geological Survey, Australian Research Data Commons, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, and the American Geophysical Union. The conference schedule includes sessions from NCEI and our cooperative institute partners, the Northern Gulf Institute, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, and the Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies.
