President Joe Biden’s nominee to manage international environmental and ocean-related issues will appear before Senate lawmakers this week.
The Foreign Relations Committee will question Kristen Sarri to become assistant secretary of State for oceans and international environmental and scientific affairs. Monica Medina held the post until last year.
Sarri worked in the Obama administration, including at the Interior Department, and went on to serve as CEO of the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
“Kris Sarri has been a leader in environmental stewardship and community development for over two decades,” the White House said when announcing her nomination.
