Style News: Cartier opens immersive Trinity pop-up, eco-friendly retail festival Green-House returns – The Straits Times

To celebrate its iconic Trinity ring turning 100 years old in 2024, Cartier is staging an immersive showcase at The Arts House. From July 15 to 23, the travelling pop-up invites visitors to discover a centenary’s evolutions of the Trinity through seven rooms.
The journey begins in a room honouring the number three – of great significance to Cartier for the Trinity’s three interconnected bands of yellow, rose and white gold; brothers Louis, Pierre and Jacques Cartier, credited with taking the French maison worldwide; and its historic boutiques in Paris, London and New York.
Learn about the ring’s inception in 1924, when it broke new ground in jewellery for its fluidity of design and daring combination of three different golds.
Then, trace its steady rise to icon status, favoured by personalities such as French poet and artist Jean Cocteau, Hollywood stars and society elites.
The pop-up also presents Imagine Infinite Circles, a collaborative art project of more than 100 works interpreting Trinity by creative figures from around the world, from all disciplines.
Thirty artworks have been curated for this showcase, including from three Singaporeans: film director He Shuming, industrial designer Olivia Lee and pianist Li Churen.
It culminates in the Trinity Box room, showcasing the new Transversal Trinity Collection, an eight-piece collection of Trinity reinterpretations – which include a cushion-shaped ring and a reissue of the extra large Trinity bracelet first launched in 2007.
Info: From July 15 to 23, noon to 9pm at The Arts House, 1 Old Parliament Lane. Online registration is required at str.sg/LxdQ
Singapore- and Shanghai-based textile design house Tanchen Studio has dropped another collaboration – this time with home-grown coffee tech company Morning.
In a meeting of two design-centric minds, PressPause is a collection of home objects inspired by mindful coffee breaks and relishing the present. Anchoring it is the Morning Machine Lite ($395), a special edition of Morning’s flagship coffee capsule machine in two new colourways.
Spruce up your coffee rituals with the range of tableware in colours inspired by kuehs and coffee break snacks, and featuring Tanchen Studio’s signature weaving.
There are the Kueh/Kueh Coasters in Onde Onde, Sago, Kosui, Lapis, Dadar ($12 each); Barista Cloths ($25) in interlocking colour blocks, which are the studio’s first print product; and an Affogato Set ($58) that pairs a stainless steel bowl with a hand-beaded placemat, inspired by the beaded wooden seat covers regularly seen in taxis.
Also available is the Mazha Stool ($195), a Tanchen signature and ode to traditional folding stools, now in an exclusive butter shade – as a nod to the butter on scones, in kaya toast, and kopi gu you (butter coffee).

The retail festival focused on sustainability is back for its third and largest edition.
From July 13 to 14, Green-House will take over lifestyle enclave New Bahru to host brands across food to conscious fashion, workshops, film screenings, pet adoption drives and art exhibitions. The festival has evolved from its debut edition, held in a shophouse, when brands were organised by rooms in a home.
There will be three zones in this edition. Renew is housed in The Factory space, with brands curated around the theme “Old is Gold” – including second-hand furniture label Objects.re and Offcut, an upcycled stationery brand by Allegro Print to reduce paper waste.
Luggage brand Samsonite will also present a live-art tapestry crafted from the inner lining of reclaimed luggages, while visitors can watch feature-length films co-curated by Singapore Nature Film Festival 2024 at the Helinox Cinematheque.
In Reimagine in The School Hall, find lifestyle products promoting mindful living including handbags by Webeings, crafted from discarded garments and upcycled single-use plastics, and eco-friendly garments by Atlas Kind. Rest your feet at the Mercedes-Benz Kantine, a pop-up cafe in collaboration with eco-conscious bar Fura exploring the future of food.
Outside on The Lawn is Reconnect, where you can find pet adoption drives and a thematic campground. Admission is free.
Info: July 13 and 14, 10am to 7pm, at New Bahru, 46 & 58 Kim Yam Road
