Aspen Center for Environmental Studies announces diverse summer programs – The Aspen Times

News News |

The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) has unveiled its summer programming in the Roaring Fork Valley, inviting the community to engage with nature through a variety of educational and interactive events.
ACES is renowned for its commitment to environmental education, with a history dating back to the late 1960s. The organization operates multiple visitor centers, including Hallam Lake, a 25-acre nature preserve in Aspen, and Rock Bottom Ranch, an educational and regenerative ranch situated between Basalt and Carbondale. Though the Catto Center at Toklat, a wilderness retreat, is closed for renovations, ACES continues to offer free admission to its other locations.
New Kanders Family Science Teaching Lab at Hallam Lake
ACES introduces the Kanders Family Science Teaching Lab at the Hallam Lake campus this summer. This interactive exhibit features educational murals, a light box for examining local flora and fauna, and special sessions with on-site naturalists. The lab is designed to inspire visitors of all ages to explore the natural world, making it an ideal complement to ACES’ early childhood programs. A “climbing tree” feature is set to be added in the fall, further enhancing the experience.
