Operating at a full capacity of 120,000 tons per year, the Maryland Bioenergy Center leverages anaerobic digestion technology to transform food waste into renewable natural gas and nutrient-rich soil amendments. The facility’s output of over 300,000 MMBtu powers more than 7,000 homes annually, while its carbon dioxide abatement is equivalent to removing 19,000 gasoline cars from the roads each year. The judging panel for the Sustainability Delivery Awards comprised esteemed industry experts and analysts, led by Environment Analyst’s Managing Director Ross Griffiths. The panel included notable figures such as Lucy Bradbury, Global ESG Training & Development Lead at AECOM; Jordana Vasquez, Senior Manager, Climate Resilience & Equity at Resilient Cities Network; Edward Brauer, Senior Hydraulic Engineer at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; and Anjuliee Mittelman, PhD, Environmental Engineer at the US DoT Volpe Center. This diverse and knowledgeable panel underscores the credibility and prestige of the awards, further cementing Bioenergy Devco’s position as a leader in the sustainability sector.
