TORONTO — Lisa Prime has been named Diamond Schmitt’s new director of sustainability, guiding the firm’s sustainability approach, driving strategy, education and analysis of benefit on projects across all sectors.
Prime brings over 30 years of experience in community planning, progressive green building design and developing performance-based solutions at an urban scale, including master plans for Toronto’s waterfront, the City of Markham and Halton Hills. She has also developed sustainable strategies and climate policies for municipalities across the Greater Toronto Area and Winnipeg region.
Prime joins Diamond Schmitt from the City of Cambridge where she served as chief planner since 2021.
She previously held the role of director of environment, innovation and sustainability for Waterfront Toronto for 10 years where she worked on the Climate Positive Plan for Villers Island in the Port Lands, the city’s first climate positive precinct, indicates a release.
Prime is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Urban Land Institute’s inaugural Women’s Leadership Initiative Championship Team (2014) and Clean50 Honourable Mention (2012).
“Lisa brings exemplary experience as a chief city planner leading important urban projects and green development standards for different regions,” said Don Schmitt, principal at Diamond Schmitt, in a statement. “We have been collaborating with Lisa on advancing the firm’s sustainability standards and implementing innovative energy systems into Diamond Schmitt’s projects, furthering the development of the firm’s climate action plan.”
